MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT |
Scott Southworth FBIDVRCAAA President | Dear Members, Well, another incredible year is in the books! Our Chapter continued to support the mission of the FBI by working diligently with the Denver field office, expanded opportunities for our members to engage and participate, and enhanced the many challenges that come with being, in my humble opinion, the best CAAA Chapter in the country! At the National Conference, our chapter received both the Excellence in Community Outreach and the GOLD STAR Chapter Awards. These awards recognize our continued commitment to operate at the highest level of integrity and transparency while also being a force multiplier for the Denver field office. These awards could not have been achieved without the tireless efforts of the Chapter Board and Members: thank you all! As we move into 2025, we will continue supporting the four primary initiatives outlined by the Denver Special Agent in Charge (SAC): · Elder Fraud · Fentanyl · Sextortion · Human Trafficking We have developed a model for these presentations and outreach with our 2024 focus on Elder Fraud. The impact generated from those presentations continues to be inspiring, and we look forward to expanding this model into the other three areas. If you are interested, this is a GREAT way to get involved by helping us coordinate presentations directed at these specific populations. Check out the FBIDVRCAAA Teams page to find out more! From a Chapter point of view, we continue to maintain a strong financial position through expanded sources of revenue generation and thoughtful cost control. In addition, we established a Financial Review Team that provides oversight and review of our Chapter’s financial practices. We anticipate that the policies and procedures that have come out of the deep dive and review by this team will likely become another GOLD standard for other chapters and National to follow. From a more personal aspect, the Denver field office personnel have not been immune from tragedy this past year. Many of the challenges they have faced have not been publicized, but they have deeply affected everyone involved. To that end, our Chapter will continue to expand our efforts on agent and staff morale and support. Our Pet Therapy Day and Christmas for Kids gift-wrapping event are both examples of programs that have had great field office participation and have made a positive difference. This is another area where you can engage and make a significant impact on those who do so much for our community. Thank you all for your continued support and participation; check out the 2024 Events page to see all that we did this past year! We look forward to providing more meaningful, insightful, engaging and exclusive events in 2025! As always, if you have ideas of things you’d like to see or hear, or events you’re interested in leading, please reach out to any of the Board members. We want this to be the best CAAA Chapter in the country for all of us! Humbly, Scott Southworth |
