A third generation native of Denver, Scott received his BA in Economics from CU Boulder. As an established entrepreneur, Scott has started over a dozen successful small businesses, none in the same industry. Along the way, he has been a co-founder in a number of local charity and non-profit organizations. As a pilot, he has been fortunate to be involved with a unique helicopter ministry called, PrayerOne, started by his brother-in-law. His biggest accomplishment was to get his wife to say, “Yes”. She is WAY above his pay grade!

David Dameron Officer - Vice President; Executive Committee; Membership Team Lead Citizens Academy Graduating Class: (Phoenix): 2013 | David worked in the telecommunications industry from 1985 – 2016, including roles in sales, marketing and management. He lived in many states during his career with the majority of this time in Tucson, AZ. David and his wife moved to Highlands Ranch/Parker in early 2017. Prior to Covid, David was a sales manager at Topgolf. He then became the security manager for Allied Universal Security on the Charles Schwab Campus in Lone Tree, CO. In his spare time, David enjoys family, golfing, kayaking and yard work. He also enjoys long walks and hikes with his wife (Joan) and two-year-old Portuguese Waterdog/Poodle mix. |
Kelle Ansel Officer - Secretary; Executive Committee; Nominations Committee Lead; Special Events Team Lead; Membership Team Citizens Academy Graduating Class: 2019 | Kelle has a degree in Business Management and just retired from the Insurance business in 2022. She has also worked as an event planner and wedding coordinator. Kelle has a passion for community outreach and serving our neighborhoods and has planned, coordinated and directed many community events, including: The Ultimate Home Makeover, The Great Gas Giveaway, Military Care Packages, Thanksgiving Basket Outreach and serving many local charities in a tangible way. Kelle is a Colorado native, has been married for 30 years and has two children. She loves to travel, read and play pickle ball. |
Michelle Slocum Officer - Treasurer; Executive Committee Citizens Academy Graduating Class: 2021 | Michelle is an Audit Manager within Crowe’s Healthcare Risk Consulting practice. She is a Certified Internal Auditor, Fraud Examiner, and Healthcare Internal Audit Professional and has over 15 years of professional healthcare experience. She is a fraud lead within the practice and has extensive knowledge of controlled substance controls, DEA regulations and leading practices. Michelle earned a B.S. in accounting from Binghamton University. She is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and the Association of Healthcare Internal Auditors. She is an author for the Association of Healthcare Internal Auditors and writes questions for consideration in the Certified Internal Auditors exam. During her free time, Michelle is an avid hockey fan (particularly the Colorado Avalanche), enjoys reading (usually fraud stories) and is an unsuccessful dog trainer (her Mini Aussie controls all!). |
Thomas Hughes Financial Review Team Lead Citizens Academy Graduating Class: 2023 | Tom has lived in Colorado most of his life and returned to attend CSU after serving 6 years in the U.S. Marine Corps where he met his wife (also a Marine). He is a CPA and career auditor, most recently serving as the Head of Internal Audit at Global Medical Response. Throughout his career, Tom has worked for large corporations in leadership roles and investigated numerous financial fraud cases that led to successful prosecutions of the accused parties. In addition to his primary career, Tom became an EMT at GMR to better understand the daily work of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and served on an EMS crew in his free time. Tom loves his amazing wife and daughter, and enjoys Colorado outdoor activities such as road cycling and trail running. |
Todd Inglee Citizens Academy Graduating Class: 2020 Laura Locke ElderFraud Team; Outreach - Youth Engagement Team; Grant Team Citizens Academy Graduating Class: 1999 | Todd is a native of Golden, Colorado and graduated from Colorado State University. He has a diverse background in the livestock industry, having held numerous leadership roles in state and national trade associations as well as being a cattle producer distributing beef to retail and foodservice under his own private label. He previously served the cattle industry as the Executive Director of the Colorado Beef Council and as the President of the Colorado Cattlemen's Association and has earned several awards, recognitions and certifications in his field. Todd currently serves as the Brand Commissioner for the Colorado Board of Stock Inspection which protects the Colorado's livestock industry by deterring theft and investigating lost or stolen livestock, facilitating commerce, and administering the state's 30K+ registered livestock brands. He also continues to manage his family's small ranch located in the foothills. Laura is a native to Colorado; she moved to Evergreen several years ago and prefers life on the mountain. In college Laura participated in the Denver Police Department Explorer Program and was the chairperson for the National Law Enforcement Explorer Program. Laura graduated from Regis College with degrees in both mathematics and political science and then received her law degree from Santa Clara University Law School. Laura has practiced law for the past 31 years, mainly in business planning, estate planning and child welfare. She currently works for the State of Colorado in the Trust Unit for Health Care Policy and Financing. Outside of work, Laura enjoys yoga, paddleboarding, 4-wheeling and hiking with her family and Siberian huskies. |
Sara Mirelez Marketing and Social Media; Core Initiatives Team Lead; Financial Review Team Citizens Academy Graduating Class: 2023 | Sara is a native of both Colorado and Denver and earned a degree in Business Administration from Colorado State University in Fort Collins. She worked for Price Waterhouse LLP as a CPA before transitioning into a Finance role at Coors Brewing Company. After three years, she requested a temporary transfer to learn Marketing where she fell in love and never left! Sara held a 20+ year career in executive marketing roles at Coors and White Wave Foods, another Colorado-based company. Since semi-retirement, she has consulted in Marketing Services for various Denver-based organizations and has volunteered with the AARP Fraud Watch Network for six years. Sara also volunteers as a reading tutor for children aged 7 – 9 and has her own Little Free Library stuffed with books for readers of all ages (as well as toys and treats for dogs of all breeds!). She and her partner Marty enjoy fly-fishing, traveling, and entertaining at home. |
Melody (Mel) Warren Wyoming Community Outreach Team Citizens Academy Graduating Class: 2016 | Mel has worked for the State of Wyoming for 22 years with the Department of Family Services. She recently moved to the Department of Administration and Information as the State Safety Manager and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator. Her passion is educating the young and old alike on emergency preparedness topics. She's presented locally, statewide, and nationally. She has a degree in Criminal Justice, Organizational Leadership and holds various certifications in emergency management. She volunteers with the American Red Cross, Laramie County Community Emergency Response Team, Digital Information Response Team, Southeast Wyoming Search and Rescue, and with various community groups. Mel enjoys fishing, boating, hiking, painting, restoring classic cars, but most of all spending time with her family and playing with her three grandsons and granddaughter. |
